HAYNESVILLE and HOULTON – Avis V. Dwyer, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, March 1, 2007, surrounded by her family at a local health care facility, after a long illness. She was born April 18, 1925, and was the eldest daughter of Ellis and Margaret of Peters Cove, Orient. Avis married Stanley Dwyer of Selden and raised seven children, Eugene and Pamela Dwyer of Bradford, Emery and Jean Dwyer of Medway, Marlene and Colin Hogan of Linneus, Brenda and James Hall of Littleton, Joan McEwen of Haynesville, Norma and Bruce Malone of Haynesville, and Nancy and William Malone of Haynesville; 23 grandchildren, Angela, Candy, Shannon, Shane, James, Matthew, Melissa, Sarah, Judy, Ellsworth, Christopher, Jonathan, Michael, Travis, Lacey, Brad, Roland, Sandi, Kerri, Molly, Andrew, Linda and Katie; 13 great-grandchildren, Duska, Phillip, Danika, MacKenzie, Ryleigh, Whitney, Lily, Dylan, Lindsey, Lincoln, Nicholas, Michael and Grace; a special brother-in-law, Hartley Dwyer; many nieces and nephews. Avis was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Stanley; two grandchildren, Gary McGuire and Rebecca Caron; a sister, Charlotte Grant; and a brother, Sanford Peters; and Tony. Her family was her life. She will be greatly missed. Her family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to all her friends at Madigan Estates Nursing Home. A celebration of her life will be held March 5, at Haynesville Baptist Church with calling hours noon-2 p.m. and funeral services being held 2 p.m. with pastors Duane Wait and Glenn Speed officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Avis’ memory to the church’s building fund. There will be a time of fellowship and sharing after service at the church.
