HAMPDEN – Barbara Jane Greeley Good, 72, passed away Feb. 18, 2006, at her home in Hampden, after a brief illness. She was born May 21, 1933, in Hampden, the daughter of Paul and Eleanor Greeley. Barbara lived in Hampden her entire life. She graduated as valedictorian from Hampden Academy in 1951 and was a graduate of Husson College, Class of 1954. On Feb. 19, 1955, she married Robert Good. Together they raised five children. For the past 33 years she had worked as a dedicated secretary for Hampden Academy, where she was an integral member of the administration team and was fondly referred to by many as the “backbone” of the school. She was a loving, generous, devoted mother and grandmother who found great joy in her family. She loved spending time at the ocean, especially trips to Schoodic Point and the family camp in Steuben. She enjoyed collecting recipes and concocting new dishes for her friends and family. She was an avid reader and knowledgeable sports fan. She was inducted to the Husson College Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. She is survived by five children, Bruce Good and his wife, Kathy, of Valdez, Alaska, Judy Rollins and her husband, Dick, Pam Parker and her husband, Bruce, all of Hampden, David Good and his wife, Nancy, Paul Good and his wife, Sandra, all of Westbrook; 15 beloved grandchildren, Mollie, Ryan, Rik, Susan, Jill, Greg, Scott, Lisa, Bobby, Melanie, Amanda, Zach, Samantha, Alex and Danielle; two brothers, Paul and Robert Greeley; and her special sister, Joyce McDevitt; nieces and nephews and many longtime friends at Hampden Academy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Good, Dec. 10, 1979. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday, at the Skehan Memorial Gym, Hampden Academy, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hanson, pastor of the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, officiating. Family and friends are invited to share in a continued time of remembrance and refreshments in the ‘Old Gym’ following the service.
