CORINNA – Barbara M. McKenney, 63, died peacefully June 17, 2006, surrounded by family, at home. She was born March 25, 1943, in Dexter, a daughter of Lucien and Charlene (Braley) Dube. A 1961 graduate of Dexter High School, Barbara attended Dexter schools throughout her childhood. In 1962, she married Galen P. McKenney of Corinna and together they raised two children, Kathy and Rick. The family resided in Connecticut for a number of years before returning in 1971, to the McKenney farm in Corinna. For 17 years, she worked at Bud’s Shop & Save in Newport as deli manager. In 1994, she became office manager in the family business, McKenney Machine. Barbara will be remembered for her unconditional love and generosity to her family, her loyalty to friends, and her kindness and compassion for the people around her. In 1986, she and Galen began going to Moosehead Lake, a special place where family and friends have gathered for the last 20 years. “Camp” was one of her favorite places to be. She and Galen enjoyed several memorable trips with friends and family members in the last few years, visiting Germany, Alaska, Florida and Pennsylvania. She leaves many family members who will miss her greatly, her husband of 44 years, Galen McKenney; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Mossey; grandson, Justin of Newport; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Leslie McKenney; grandchildren, Brad and Eliza Jane of Cumberland; her father, Lucien Dube; her brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Judy Dube; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Laferriere; as well as her mother-in-law, Doris McKenney, all of Dexter. She will be remembered by several nieces and nephews, Annette, Rob, David, Paul, Ashley, Justin and Lucien. She was predeceased by her mother, Charlene Dube in 2003. She believed in the strength of family and traditions, and taught us all what matters most. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Rd., Corinna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Free Street, Dexter. Burial will be in the family lot, Morse’s Corner Cemetery, Corinna, after the service.
