LUCERNE-IN-MAINE – Barbara M. Petersen, 59, passed away Feb. 13, 2008, with her family, at home after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 3, 1948, in Somerville, Mass., to Daniel F. Coates and Helen A. Barron. Barbara enjoyed her crafts, camping, riding in the truck with her husband, creating flower gardens and recently, doing construction for her friend, Al. She was predeceased by her parents; and her big brother, Daniel “Danny Boy” Coates. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Albert C. Petersen Jr.; daughter, Lisa M. Bowden of Lucerne; sons, Wayne D. Bowden of Brewer, Daniel C. Coates and wife, Jennifer, of Milbridge and Michael C. Bowden and Charlotte Blunk of Monroe, Mich.; sisters, Carol M. and husband, David Martin, of Milton, N.H., and Sandy and husband, Joseph Mcelrone, of Adairsville, Ga.; five grandchildren, David, Travis, Michael, Lia and Marcus; and one great-grandchild, Kelsey. At Barbara’s request, no funeral services will be held. A celebration of her life will be held noon June 28, 2008, at her home.
