HAMLET, N.C. – Basil R. Robertson, 76, passed away June 29, 2007, at a Hamlet, N.C., hospital, after a brief illness. Basil was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Hermon, the son of Duncan Robertson Sr. and Mildred (Roberts) Robertson. He and his twin sister, Hazel, were the youngest of nine children. He attended Hermon schools and was employed at J.J. Nissen Baking Co. for 10 years prior to his move to Florida, where he continued to work in his profession. He is survived by one brother, Duncan Jr.; and one sister, Cora Reynolds, both of Bangor. He was predeceased by his parents and six sisters. At Basil’s request, no services will be performed locally.
