BLUE HILL – Beatrice “Betty” M. Dutton, 82, passed away peacefully Nov. 28, 2003, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital in the company of many dear friends. She was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Valencia, Venezuela, the daughter of Beatrix D. and Edwin Robertson Aikman. She and her parents later returned to Blackpool, England, where she received her education. In 1942, she married Major Charles B. Dutton, U.S. Army Air Corps, and following the end of World War II, moved to Morristown, N.J. They were married for 56 years until her husband’s death in 1998. Betty is survived by her two sons, James G. Dutton of Federal Way, Wash. and Robert C. Dutton of Madison, Conn. In addition, she has two nephews, Charles and John Aikman both living in England. Edward Aikman, her only sibling, predeceased her. Betty traveled to her family’s summer cottage in Sargentville, for more than 50 years. Following her husband’s death, she moved from New Jersey to Parker Ridge Retirement Community in Blue Hill. Betty was much loved by both her family and the many friends she made during her lifetime. While we mourn her passing, we are blessed by the wonderful memories she has left us. A memorial life celebration will be held at the family summer home at a future date. In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made in her memory to Hancock County HomeCare, PO Box 156, Blue Hill, ME 04614 or the Peninsula Ambulance Corps, PO Box 500, Blue Hill, ME 04614. Arrangements are by Healey Funeral Home, South Street, Blue Hill.
