GUILFORD – Beatrix Ethelyn (Jackson) Bray, 96, a former resident of Riverbend Homes, Guilford, died Oct. 17, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Monson, the daughter of Earle H. and Edith R. (Draper) Jackson of Monson. She graduated from Monson Academy in 1928, Farmington Normal School in 1930 and matriculated to the University of Maine in Orono. She taught school for 34 years in Monson, Blanchard, Parkman and Guilford. She married Clair B. Bray, July 16, 1937. Beatrix was a member of N.E.A., M.T.A., P.C.R.T.A. and M.R.A., and was a former treasurer of SAD 4 Teacher’s Club. She was a member of the Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, Monson United Church of Christ and U.C.C. Guild; was a past matron of Almeda Chapter No. 149, O.E.S. and past district deputy of District No. 17 of the Grand Chapter of Maine; past worthy high priest-ess of the former Hosanna Shrine No. 3, White Shrine of Jerusalem; past president of the former Woman’s Club of Guilford; past regent of Tisbury Manor Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, served as state historian for three years, and served as state chairman of several committees in the State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of the J.T. Club, Sangerville and was a former librarian of Sangerville Public Library. Beatrix is survived by a sister-in-law, Evangeline Jackson of Monson and Whispering Pines, N.C.; a special niece by marriage, Kathleen Jackson of Falmouth; nephew, Leslie Bray and wife, Jo Ann, of East Lyme, Conn.; niece, Edythe Bray Gervais and husband, Ludger, of Skowhegan; great-nephews, Tory Jackson and wife, Kristen, and son, Dexter, of Kings Beach, Calif., Jeremy Jackson of Portland, Todd Bray and wife, Stacy, and daughters, Megan and Katie, of Dayton, Timothy Bray and wife, Camille, and sons, Christian and Cole, of Preston, Conn., and Derek Gervais and wife, Lori, and daughter, Olivia, of Waterville; great-nieces, Thayle Jackson Heggie and husband, David, of Greensboro, N.C., Katrina Jackson of Hoboken, N.J., Tricia Gervais Anderson and husband, Dwight, and children, Dylan and Jordan, of Dayton and Kristy Gervais Scheinfeldt and husband, Erik, of Holden, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband, Clair; brothers, Clifton and Clayton Jackson; nephew, Dexter Jackson; brother-in-law, Edward Bray; and sisters-in-law, Hilda Bray and Olive Jackson. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with Pastor David Bures officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Monson.
