WALLAGRASS – Bernard D. Michaud, 84, died Jan. 8, 2007, at Forest Hill Manor, Fort Kent. He was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Wallagrass, the son of Robert Z. and Amanda (Marin) Michaud. He was the husband for 60 years of Aurore (Pelletier) Michaud, having married June 20, 1946, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Bernard farmed the family potato farm in Wallagrass for more than 40 years having learned and taken over the farm from his father. He loved the farm and although he had not farmed potatoes in 20 years, he still planted, harvested and shipped potatoes in his thoughts. He also maintained a small herd of 30 cattle, a horse and other pets while passing down his love for animals to his children. He was town manager of Wallagrass from 1957 to 1983 and was a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of Fort Kent. He was devoted to his family and snowmobiling on the farm, boating, fishing and skiing at the Pelletier Ski Tow, Fort Kent, were all part of the family fun and tradition. His family all looked forward to the fruits of his fiddlehead picking on his secret island. In his later years, he particularly enjoyed woodworking and often made furniture and toys for his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Aurore of Wallagrass, he is survived by four sons and one daughter, son, Bernard R. Michaud and his wife, Deborah (Wilkins) and their son, Benjamin and his wife, Gergana, all of Portland; son, Francis Michaud and his wife, Karen S. (Abbott), of Hudson, Mass., and their children, Capt. U.S. Marine Corp Seth, deceased, and his wife, Karen M., and son, Ian of Wooster, Ohio, Ethan and his wife, Leslie and children, Jaxon, Aurora and Samantha, all of Hudson, Mass.; son, Thomas Michaud of Wallagrass and his children, Arick of Oregon, Miranda and her son, Gage of California, and Nicole, also of California; daughter, Phyllis Wilson and her husband, Gene, of Farmingdale and their sons, Brandon and Alex; and son, Michael Michaud and his wife, Sandy, of Dallas and their children, David and Natanya. He is also survived by one sister, Julie Patchin of Massachusetts; and two brothers, Harold of Connecticut and Robert of Florida. In addition to both his parents and a grandson, he was predeceased by two sisters, Betty and Lillian; and one brother, Al. Friends may call 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, until time of departure for Soldier Pond, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Edgar J.
