FORT KENT – Bernice B. Saucier, 84, died peacefully Jan. 7, 2008, at her place of residence. She was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Herbie and Aurore (Marquis) Bouchard. Bernice worked for the Fort Kent Telephone Co., and also worked as a clerk at Fort Kent Registry of Deeds under Alva Thibodeau from 1971 until several years later when she was appointed registrar, a position she held until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Northern Maine Medical Center Guild, Fort Kent. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilmer A. Saucier, in 1994. She is survived by four sons, Dana Saucier and his wife, Gloria, of Cardova, Tenn., Gary Saucier and his wife, Diane, of Fort Kent, Glenn Saucier and his wife, Rena, of Eagle Lake, and Dean Saucier and his wife, Vera, of Scarborough; one brother, Alban Bouchard and his wife, Rita, of Fort Kent; three sisters, Jeannine Des Roberts of Portland, Delores Leonard and her husband, Ted, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Beulah Dubois of Grand Isle. She is also survived by a very special woman, whom she looked upon as her daughter, Judy (Duval) Archie of Santefe, N.M.; her grandchildren, Dana Saucier and his wife, Melissa, of Dublin, Ohio, Karen Lee and her husband, David, of Bartlett, Tenn., Cathie Martin and her husband, Jamie, of Farmington, Conn., Chris Saucier and his wife, Liz, of Annapolis, Md., Debbie Madore and her husband, Danny, of Fort Kent, Jennifer Draper and her husband, David, of Guilford, Melanie Saucier of Fort Kent, David Saucier and his wife, Jocelyn, of Fort Kent, Michelle Saucier of Portland, Melissa Saucier of Presque Isle, Amy Delano and her husband, Brandon, and Sarah Saucier, all of Scarborough; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be held May 9 in the parish cemetery.
