HOULTON – Bernice Hazel (Knights) Putnam, 95, died Oct. 25, 2004, at a Houlton healthcare facility. She was born June 4, 1909, in Brookton, the daughter of Alfred Hiram Knights and Lucy Adeline (Cole) Knights. Bernice was a life long resident of Brookton and a member of the Brookton Baptist Church. She is survived by four stepsons, Charles, Joe, Donald and Russell; two stepdaughters, Priscilla and Patricia; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two husbands, Otis Kinney and Charles Putnam; as well as three brothers and five sisters. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brookton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brookton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Peter Grenier and the Rev. Clayton Crocker officiating. Interment will be in Eaton Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Brookton Baptist Church.
