CHERRYFIELD – Bernice R. Brooks, 67, passed away Nov. 7, 2006, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport, after a brief illness. She was born June 14, 1939, in Old Town, the daughter of the late Alonzo Farnsworth Sr. and Gladys (Saindon) Farnsworth. Bernice retired from Jasper Wyman and Son in 2005, after many years of service. She was well known for her picking and selling of crabmeat over her lifetime. Bernice loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, as well as with her cat, Leo. She also enjoyed knitting. She is survived by four children, Joni Perry and husband, Lewis, of Steuben, Kenny Brooks of Cherryfield, Kevin Brooks of Cherryfield and Kim Smith and husband, Dwayne, of Columbia Falls; grandchildren, Gary and companion, Tricia, Chrissy and fiance, Shawn, Lewis “Skybo,” Eric and Cameron, Adam and wife, Kadie, Erin, and Derek and Devin; great-grand-children, Torre, Ally and MaKenzi; siblings, Colleen Urquhart and husband, Orrin, of Marshfield, Marie Ramsdell of Columbia and Paul Farnsworth and wife, Jeanne, of Jones-port; many nieces, nephews and other dear family. Bernice will be fondly remembered by many friends as “half-pint.” She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Brooks Sr.; daughter, Linda; special companion, Jim; two brothers, Buddy and George Farnsworth. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at First Baptist Church, Cherryfield. The burial will immediately after at Intervale Cemetery, Cherryfield.
