FRENCHVILLE – Bertrand “Bert” Dumais, 85, died Dec. 8, 2006, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Frenchville, the son of Henry and Marie (Picard) Dumais. Bert reinvented himself as a very reputable builder and contractor through Bert’s Construction, as a coordinator and head instructor for the Construction Cluster of the St. John Valley Regional Program; as a furniture builder; as Bert’s Crafts and basket weaver and recently, fly rod maker. Quality is synonymous with Bert’s work. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He is survived by his loving wife Irma (Dionne) of 60 years; two sons, Raymond and his wife, Ginette, of Hooksett, N.H.; Robert “Bob” Dumais and his wife, Dinah, of San Antonio; three daughters, Claudette and her husband, Percy Thibeault, Claire and her husband, Gary Thibeault, and Diane and her husband, Raymond Fongemie, of Frenchville; 13 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three great-stepgrandchildren; four sisters, Doris Chamberland of St. Agatha, Priscille and her husband, Jack Greenwood, of Merdian, Conn., Marie Mae and her husband, Donald McDermott, and Theresa Dumais of Madawaska; brother, Roland “Bee” and his wife, Anne, of Semi-Valley, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Prescille Dumais of Frenchville, nieces and nephews. Bertrand was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Lawrence in 2001; and brother-in-law, Jerome Chamberland. Friends and relatives may call at Michaud Funeral Home, Frenchville, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Valley Church, Frenchville, with Fr. Paul Dumais officiating. Burial will be at St. Luce Cemetery.
