DEXTER – Bessie L. Flagg, 86, died Feb. 21, 2005, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Garland, a daughter of Harold and Eva (Grinnell) Packard. She worked for several years for Snow Flake Canning and later for Dexter Shoe until her retirement. Bessie was also a volunteer at the Dexter Health Care Facility. She was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Bessie spent a lot of time helping with the Church Fairs, the Thrift Shop and the Food Cupboard. She is survived by a son, Henry Flagg and his wife, Carol, of Sangerville; a daughter, Helen VanDendurgh and her husband, Edward, of Corinna; a sister, June Warren of Massachusetts; a brother, Harold Packard and his wife, Gerry, of Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Sanger Davis Jr. and his friend, Kathy, Randy Davis and his wife, Debbie, Daniel Davis and his wife, Lisa, Scott Flagg and his wife, Barbara, Shannon Flagg Spaulding and her husband, Darrell; nine great-grand-children; several stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wyman D. Flagg and a brother, Albert Packard. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at the Dexter United Methodist Church with Pastor Lois Field officiating.
