ELLINGTON, Conn. – Bette L. (Wright) Paulhus, 63, died Saturday, March 10, 2007. She was born in Yarmouth, daughter of the late Albion and Beatrice Wright. She lived in Ellington, Conn., for the last 34 years. She graduated from Old Town High School, Old Town, and Gorham State Teacher’s College, Gorham. She worked in the Enfield public school system for 10 years and the Bolton Center School for the past 18 years, as a special education paraprofessional. She was a gifted and caring educator for all her students throughout her long teaching career. She loved animals, especially her horses, Albie, Stormy and Kybre; and her beloved cat, Toisdy. She was an avid University of UConn Women’s Basketball fan. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dennis; and her daughter, Elizabeth, also of Ellington, Conn.; her brother, Robert Wright and his wife, Nancy, of Scarborough; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Wright of Derry, N.H.; her dear friend of 42 years, Bette Ptaszek of Westfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Vaughn Wright of Derry, N.H. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Ladd-Turkington and Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Route 83, Vernon, Conn., with a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington, Conn. Burial will be at Ellington Center Cemetery. Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
