OLD TOWN – Bion P. Dorr, 90, passed away peacefully Sept. 10, 2007. He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Edmunds, the son of Melvin H. Dorr Sr. and Belinda (Willey) Dorr. Bion was raised in Cherryfield and he graduated from Cherryfield Academy before moving to Old Town in search of work. He was employed at the former James River mill until his retirement. While in Old Town, he met Pauline Saindon, and they were married for nearly 50 years, before she passed away in 1990. Bion was an outdoorsman who found great joy in fishing and hunting. He shared his passion with his grandchildren and nearly all of his great-grandchildren. Bion was a member of the Old Town Knights of Columbus, and for many years he could be found volunteering at Monday night bingo. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Rose (Dorr) LeClair; and sister, Ruby (Dorr) MacLauchlan. Bion is survived by his daughter, Sharon Steele and her husband, Michael, of Old Town; grandchildren, Susan Neal of Clifton, Jon LeClair and his wife, Nancy, of Irmo, S.C., William LeClair and his wife, Chong, of Massachusetts, and Michelle Denning and her husband, Larry, of Old Town; great-grandchildren, Jason Sirois, Jennifer Rose Marie Roy, Trevor Neal, Virginia, Mrs. Becca Palmer of Virginia, Abigail Esford of New York, Nicholas Esford of New York, Griffin LeClair of Colorado Springs, Colo., Amanda LeClair, Alicia LeClair, Lee Jackson, Tia Jackson, and Harley Denning; brothers, the Rev. Melvin Dorr Jr. and his wife, Betty, of New York, and Leon Dorr of Brunswick; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Holy Family Parish, Old Town. Interment will be held after at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Family and friends are invited to the parish hall for continued fellowship after services. Arrangements are in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home.
