YUMA, Ariz. – Blake Ricker, 95, died Jan. 15, 2007, in Yuma, Ariz. Blake was born March 14, 1911, in Blaine, to Rule and Carrie (Burchell) Ricker. He attended elementary school in Blaine and Aroostook Central Institute High School, Mars Hill. Blake married Avis Chase, of Westfield, in 1934. Blake and Avis eventually moved to Connecticut and in 1957, moved to San Diego. Blake had a successful painting contracting business in San Diego. After retirement, Blake and Avis traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Alaska, which was his favorite fishing area. Their later years were spent in El Centro, Calif., and later in Yuma, Ariz. Blake loved his family and friends, he will always be remembered by his positive outlook of life and also, for his stories and jokes that continued until the end. Blake was predeceased by his parents, wife; and sister, Lottie Ricker Tweedie. He is survived by his sister, Mabel Ricker Broad; daughters, Felvia and husband, Dick Belaustegui, Janet and husband, Jim White, Patricia and husband, George Howland; nephew, Robert and wife, Mary Broad; nine grandchildren and eight great-grand-children. A service in his honor was held at Johnson Mortuary Chapel and a reception was after at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church. Internment was at the Garden of Meditation, Yuma, Ariz.
