BANGOR – Blanche Doucette, 86, died Feb. 6, 2005, of natural causes at Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. Blanche was born July 9, 1918, in St. Malo, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Napoleon Duchaineau and Sarah Frank Duchaineau. Blanche held the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon returning from Active duty, she met Lionel Joseph Doucette of Van Buren. They married In October of 1949 and settled in Bangor to raise their family. Blanche retired after many years as a lab technician from Eastern Maine General Hospital. She spent many happy hours of her retirement with family and friends enjoying her favorite pastime, Beano. She will be remembered for her wit and laughter, her patience and caring and her strong love for her family. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. Everyone was always happy to be with Blanchie. Blanche was deeply sorrowed in 2001 by the death of her husband, Joe. She was predeceased by her parents, Sarah and Napoleon; her stepfather, Perley Cobb; her sister, Rachel Duchaineau; and her brother, J. Paul Duchaineau. Blanche will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children; daughter, Rachel Chase and grandson, Damien Joseph Doucette of Northport, Fla., daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Scott Richardson and granddaughters, Julie and Kristine, of Greenville; daughter, Sarah Doucette and her companion, Michael Little, of Hampden; son and daughter-in-law, John and Candace Doucette and granddaughters, Allison and Meagan, of Bangor. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sister, Simonne Duchaineau of Windham; and her sister-in-law, Cora Tilley Duchaineau of Westbrook. She will also be lovingly remembered and missed by Vivian and Ralph Cammack and their children, Ralphie and Chenoa of Brewer, the Trafton Family of Alton, and the Richardson Family of Greenville. Deepest thanks are extended to the Maine Veterans’ Home for their kind and loving care of Blanche. A private funeral service will be held for family and friends 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, officiating. Spring interment will be in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor ME 04401 and the Maine Veterans’ Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
