BRENDA A. GRANT OLD TOWN – Brenda Ann (Pelletier) Grant, 50, was called home to the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Ross Manor, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Old Town, the daughter of Catherine (Boucher) and Nelson Pelletier. She attended St. Joseph Parochial School and graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1973. Growing up, she spent many summers at her Aunt Florine and Uncle Harold Crocker’s camp on Pushaw Lake. She is fondly remembered by her special god-mother and Aunt Teresa (Boucher) Harris. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family. Her favorite past times were camping, shopping, knitting and her dogs, Aly and Tana. Brenda has many wonderful friends who have supported her throughout her ordeal, especially her “French Island Sisters” Barbara (Fournier) Nadeau, Libby (Fournier) Lizzotte, and Cindy (St. Louis) Plourde, a special childhood friend, Karen (Costello) Beaulieu. She was employed by EMMC Patients Accounts in Brewer. Her co-workers were very special friends who she felt very close to and shared many memorable times. She was most proud of her family and raised two wonderful children, Todd Hamel and his wife, Lisa, of Old Town, Jodi (Hamel) Gomm and her husband, Andrew, of Bradley. The light of her life are her grandchildren, Peyton, Kameron and Makenzie. She is also survived by her sister, Michelle, of Greenville; brothers, Mark, of Saco, Alan of Houston, Texas; a niece, Sarah Gardner of Bradley; and nephew, Joshua Gardner of Westbrook; the father of her children, Donald Hamel of Old Town; and companion of 18 years, Richard Grant of Old Town; several aunts, uncles and cousins who were very special to her. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Francis and Betty Riva for their support and friendship of 40 years as well as a very special thank you to the staff of Ross Manor who created a loving and comfortable environment for Brenda and her family Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated noon at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, celebrant. Committal will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Old Town following the Mass. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, Brenda has requested that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650629 Dallas, TX 75265.
