HANCOCK and AURORA – Brenda M. Jordan, 61, died unexpectedly Dec. 10, 2003, at her home in Hancock. She was born July 5, 1942, in Cherryfield, the daughter of Leroy A. and Bertha M. (Brooks) Strout. Brenda was married to her soulmate, Vernon G. Jordan on June 25, 1970, and they made their home together on Rt. 9 in Aurora until Vern’s death in 1999. For the past year Brenda had made her home at Hancock Heights Mobile Home Park in Hancock. For many years Brenda was employed by Loring Air Force Base at Dow Pines Recreation Area in Great Pond. After that she could be found in the electronics department of Ames Department Store in Ellsworth until the store closed last year. Recently she was employed at the Dollar Queen in Ellsworth. Brenda was a longtime member and treasurer of the Amherst-Aurora Christmas Club. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet but her most enjoyed times were spent camping with Vern at Jo-Mary Lake, times with her family and attending the athletic events of her grandchildren. Brenda is survived by a daughter, Ellen Alexander and her husband, Victor, of Mariaville; three sons, Earl Young Jr. and wife, Jaime, of Irvington, Ala., Timothy Young and wife, Marcia, of Hampden, and Dana Jordan of Aurora. She was “Mimi” to her granddaughters, Kelly Hardison of Waltham, Alicia Cox of Eastbrook, Courtney Alexander of Mariaville, and Heather Young of Lamoine; grandsons, Lucas Hardison of Ellsworth, Travis Hardison of Waltham, Scott Young of Lamoine, Marcus Alexander of Mariaville, Derek and DJ Saucier of Alabama; three very special great-grandchildren, Jefferey Young and Abigail Cox of Eastbrook, and Thomas Demers II of Waltham, whom she helped bring into the world just one month ago. She was also mimi to Kenneth Albinson of Alabama; Candi Doherty and daughter, Acadia, of Franklin, Misty Saucier of Alabama, Christopher and Caleb Mills of Fairfield; a sister, Sharon Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Harrington; a sister-in-law, Betsy Varney and husband, David, of Aurora; a niece; three nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her beloved cat, Abby. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
