BANGOR – Catherine Josephine Patterson died Nov. 30, 2003, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was born in Bangor in 1940, and graduated from Bangor High School as a National Honors Society member with a college preparatory diploma. She married Harry Sherman Bernard in 1958, while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. They lived in various places including Seattle, Wash., and finally settled in New York City. Catherine was very proud to have accomplished all of her goals. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother having raised four successful children while earning an Associate degree from New York City Technical College. She was a world traveler, and was very proud to have retired after many years of service as Deputy Assessor in charge of Brooklyn for the New York City Department of Finance. She leaves to mourn, her husband, Harry; her four children, Lisa, Corrine, Heru-Ur and Karen; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Steed of Boston, Lorna Williams of Staten Island, N.Y.; one brother, Leroy Patterson of Bangor; as well as many other family members and friends.
