BENEDICTA and CASTINE Brett T. Gould, 18, died Nov. 4, 2007, in Castine. He was born Feb. 27, 1989, in Lewiston, the son of Cheryl and Brian Smith, of Carrabassett Valley and Thomas and Christin Gould of Rutland, Mass. He graduated from Katahdin High School in 2007, where he enjoyed playing basketball and golf, and is the three point record holder for the high school. He was currently attending Maine Maritime Academy, where he was in the Regiment of Midshipmen. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Everett and Joy Smith of Jay, and Joan Knightly and Dan Footer of Poland; paternal grandparents, W. Victor and Clara Gould of Old Orchard Beach; maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Laura Bennett of Shawmut; three brothers, Eric of York, Pa., Chad and his daughter, Daylin, of Waukesha, Wis., and Peter of Carrabassett Valley; several aunts and uncles. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Fred Irving officiating.
