HANCOCK – Bruce L. Carter, 55, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Ellsworth, the son of Aubrey H. and Alice M. (Murphy) Carter. Bruce attended schools in Hancock and Sumner High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1969, where he served for four years before joining the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served an additional 18 years. In addition to his parents, Bruce is survived by two sons, Steven Carter of Ellsworth and Daniel Carter and his wife, Kelly, of Hancock; a granddaughter, Alexis Carter of Ellsworth; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by his canine friend, Fred. Bruce was predeceased by a brother, Dana Carter. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock.
