WESTMANLAND – Byron A. Anderson, 53, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1955, in New Sweden, the son of Alden and Rita (Lapointe) Anderson. Barney was a graduate of Caribou High School, Class of 1974 and then he earned a degree in automotive mechanics from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. After his education, he traveled to Alaska to build homes and then returned to Maine to work as an electrician for County Electric for 30 years. He was a skilled craftsman and took great pride in his work. Barney was a loving and supportive husband and father. He enjoyed being a part of the community and being with friends. He is survived by his wife of more than 22 years, Patricia (Cochran) Anderson; their son, Ethan Anderson, both of Westmanland; three siblings, Steve Anderson and his wife, Cindy, Bub Anderson and his wife, Kristie, all of New Sweden and Alice Burdette and her husband, Rod, of Hanover, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Ron Cochran and his wife, Carolyn, of Acton, Mass.; two nephews, Nathan Anderson and Ronald Cochran; a niece, Sarah Cochran; and a special cousin, Natalie (Coffey) Fopianni and her husband, Greg. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Mark Cochran. A graveside service will be conducted 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Westmanland Cemetery. After the service the family invites all to a celebration of Barney’s life at the residence, 1157 Westmanland Road, Westmanland. In lieu of flowers, an educational fund has been established to support Ethan’s college education, which was very important to Barney, care of Patricia Anderson, 1157 Westmanland Road, Westmanland, ME 04783.
