GRAND ISLE – Camille Soucy, 94, died Jan. 29, 2006, in Van Buren at Borderview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 22, 1911, in Grand Isle, the son of Theophile and Olive (Dumond) Soucy. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus No. 2638 of Madawaska. Camille was a heavy equipment shovel operator for many years, starting with his father’s family business of Cyr and Soucy Road Company. Thereafter, he worked 30 years for Hornbrook Construction Company. He was also an avid violin player with the Soucy family music group, “The Keynotes” which was known throughout northern Maine, New Brunswick and Quebec. Most recently, he entertained his fellow residents at Borderview Manor with his violin-playing, while accompanied by his daughter, Jackie. Camille is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Snell and her husband, Richard, of Presque Isle and Jeannette Morris of Omaha, Neb.; four sons, James and his wife, Pamela, of Mountaintop, Pa., Robert of Trois-Rivieres, P.Q., Canada, Clayton of Dracut, Mass., Ronald of Queens, N.Y.; two brothers, Lionel Soucy of Tallahassee, Fla. and Rev. Bertrand Soucy of Port Villa, Vanuatu; three sisters, Annette Laforce of Savannah, Ga., Jill Langlois of Easton, Md., Sr. Homerine Soucy of Biddeford; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, until time of services, at the Daigle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
