HOULTON – Carl F. Hagan, 77, died Dec. 20, 2006, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born May 30, 1929, in Houlton, the son of Fred P. and Mildred (Hothem) Hagan. Carl attended Houlton schools and was a 1947 graduate of Houlton High School. He was a lifelong member and trustee of Houlton United Methodist Church, and was a member of Houlton Odd Fellows for more than 50 years. Over the years, Carl was involved in farming, logging and the trucking industry, and was well known as a metal fabricator and inventor. He was owner and operator of Hagan Manufacturing for 17 years and was a sales representative for Hood Equipment, Inc. for 10 years. Carl was instrumental in starting the area’s first snowmobile club and the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum, where he was serving as president. Carl was a great husband, father and grandfather, and he was dearly loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carl is survived by his wife, Helen (Benn) Hagan of Houlton; two sons, Roger Hagan and Terri Duff of New Limerick and Fred Hagan and his wife, Angela, of South Portland; one daughter, Mary Hagan and Larry White of Mexico; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children; brother, Donald Hagan; and sister, Carol Howe, both of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Houlton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Naomi Sam’Kpakra officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
