PLYMOUTH – Carlyle M. Stackpole, 84, died Feb. 14, 2005, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born June 10, 1920, at Plymouth, a son of Wallace and Hazel (Carter) Stackpole. He graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1937. On Oct. 26, 1940, he married the former Mary V. Chase. Carlyle was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years and at the time of his death, was a certified tree farmer. He was a longtime active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Newport. Among his church activities, he was currently serving as treasurer. He was a past deacon and together with his wife, helped found the young people’s outreach program, AWANA, where they remained actively involved for 17 years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a former member of Sebasticook Valley Grange in Newport. He was predeceased by a brother, Harland Stackpole; and sister, Barbara King. In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, he is survived by a son, Keith and wife, Dorothy Stackpole, of North Yarmouth; a daughter, Joan Levensailor, of Parkman; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor George Finnemore and the Rev. Jerry Scott officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 39 Grove Street, Newport, ME 04953. Spring burial will be in the family lot, Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.
