LINCOLN and BANGOR – Carolyn Clay Clark, 81, passed away July 8, 2006, at Westgate Manor in Bangor. She was born June 30, 1925, in Lincoln, the daughter of Charles W. and Adella D. (Grant) Clay. Callie graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1944, and Becker Junior College, Worcester, Mass. in 1945. She was employed for 23 years at the Lincoln Trust Co. which became Northeast Bank and Norstar, retiring in 1984, as vice-president and treasurer of Fleet/Norstar. She was the first woman officer appointed to the bank. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lincoln, the Pilgrim Daughters, a life member of Katahdin Chapter No. 121, OES of Old Town and a former member of Lincoln Memorial Library Committee. Callie enjoyed reading, knitting, walking, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren and she loved to dance! Callie was married to Richard B. Clark and they had three daughters, Constance Elaine, Ruth Ellen and Jane Elizabeth. Dick died in 1971. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Constance Elaine and Ian Shalek of Tucson, Ariz., Ruth Ellen and Alfred Cialfi Jr. of Kennebunk and Jane Elizabeth and David R. Black of Holden; seven grandchildren, Joshua Richard Shalek of Portland, Ore., Andrew Kyle Shalek of Albuquerque, N.M., Zachary Alfred Cialfi, Justin Clark Cialfi and Allyson Emily Cialfi, all of Kennebunk, Stephanie Jane and Anthony Richard Black, both of Holden; a sister, Barbara Ellen and her husband, Cedric Russell, of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Madeline Clay of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Frances Sawyer Richards of Greenville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth C. Ludden and her husband, Abbott; and two brothers, Wilber S. Clay and his wife, Letitia, and Reginald G. Clay. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to her by the staff of Westgate Manor. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Carlson, Chaplain of Husson College, officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Charles W. and Adella D.
