HERMON – Carolyn Edith Bowen, 66, wife for 46 years to Stanley Bowen, died Dec. 31, 2005, at home with her family, following a two-year courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Elden and Marjorie Walls. Carolyn graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1958, and resided in Hermon, where she raised her family. Carolyn enjoyed camping in Bar Harbor with her family. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children, Darrell Bowen and his wife, Julie, of Carmel, Randall Bowen and his wife, Jennifer, of Hampden, Susan Brountas and her husband, Mark, of Bangor, Brenda Byers and her husband, Jeff, of Hermon; eight grandchildren, Craig and Nicole Bowen of Carmel, Michael and Katie Brountas of Bangor, Nicholas and Jillian Byers of Hermon, Roxanne and Claire Bowen of Hampden; many nieces and nephews; a very special cousin and his wife, Bernard and Vivian Walls of Machias. She was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 4, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of the Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
