CAMDEN – Carolyn Judith (Lowell) Tibbetts, 55, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a long illness. Born in Bangor on April 5, 1948, she was the daughter of Bradley and Beauford (Patterson) Lowell. She was a 1966 honor graduate of Dexter High School and in 1969, graduated with honors from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She also attended the University of Maine working toward a degree in education. From 1969-1979, she worked at Bath Memorial Hospital, and later worked at Amenity Manor in Topsham. In 1979, she taught a course in health occupations at Morse High School in Bath. Her volunteer work at the Georgetown Elementary School included audio, visual, and other tests for the children, and the PTA. She was also an ambulance attendant for the Georgetown Fire Dept. On Sept. 5, 1981, overlooking the Camden harbor waterfront, she married Arthur E. Tibbetts Jr. Carolyn was also employed as a charge nurse at the Camden Health Care Center, where she enjoyed working with the elderly residents. She loved children and had an extensive collection of angels and ceramic dolls. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, needlepoint and reading. Surviving is her husband, Arthur E. Tibbetts Jr.; her parents, Bradley and Beauford Lowell, all of Camden; her father and mother-in-law, Arthur E. and Joan Tibbetts of Georgetown; two sons, Matthew A. Tibbetts of Thomaston, Robert L. Tracy and his wife, Barbara, of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Dorcas E. Chance and her husband, Charles, of Round Rock, Texas; two grandchildren, Joshua and Morgan Tracy of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother-in-law, Michael Tibbetts; and a sister-in-law, Michelle Plummer and her husband, Glenn, all of Georgetown; one niece; three nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St., Camden, with the Rev. Linda Campbell Marshall officiating. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Carolyn’s favorite charity, Christian Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 26507, Richmond, VA 23261-6507. Arrangements are with the Robert E. Laite Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden.
