HARMONY and BRADENTON, Fla. – Carolyn Johnston, 74, died July 18, 2004, at Dover-Foxcroft hospital. Born April 18, 1930, in Presque Isle, a daughter of Ralph and Emma (Lamson) Perry. She graduated from Presque Isle High School, attended Ricker College in Houlton, and Gordon College in Boston, Mass. Mrs. Johnston was employed as the office manager of Goodwill in Bradenton, Fla., for four years, retiring in 1993. Prior to moving to Bradenton, Fla., in 1990, Carolyn had been employed by the George H. Dean Co. in Warwick, R.I., for seven years and had also worked at the Springfield, Mass., Armory Museum for three years. She had enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Fla., and summering in Harmony. She was a member of the Dexter First Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnston married the Rev. Edward Johnston on Feb. 7, 1998. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Zonnie Simard of Bradenton, Fla., and Gracie Johnston of South Portland; sons, Irving R. Potter and wife, Deborah, of Frisco, Texas, David Johnston of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, Stephen Johnston of Pittsfield, Mass., and Peter Johnston of Raymond, N.H.; three grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Simard and William Nacewicz; and a great-grandson, Mars Moxley. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at the First Baptist Church of Dexter, corner of Main Street Hill and Free Streets, with the Rev. John “Jay” Brennan officiating. Burial will be in the China Lake Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edison Academic Scholarship, Edison Academic Center, 7431 Manatee Ave., West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
