SEARSPORT – Carolyn M. Mills, 75, died unexpectedly July 22, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 10, 1930, in Eastport, the daughter of James W. and Dorothy M. (Morrison) Logan. Carolyn graduated from Shead Memorial High School, in Eastport. She married Bruce G. Mills Oct. 21, 1950, in Eastport. She was a very active member of the Searsport United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. Mrs. Mills worked for the Waldo Independent Newspaper in Belfast for the last 11 years, where she was known for the column “Callie’s Kitchen”. Carolyn loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed watching all the activities that they were in. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed canning the vegetables that her husband, Bruce, would grow. Beautiful flowers in and around her house were always very special to her, as was a good book to read. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce G. Mills of Searsport; her children, Brenda Tetrault and her husband, Robert, of Portland, Traci Finch and her husband, Russell, of Pennsylvania, Bruce J. Mills and his wife, Paula, of Thomaston, Robert G. Mills and his wife, Holly, of Prospect; grandchildren, Tara L. Paquette and her husband, Christopher, Robert M. Tetrault II, Ashley M. and Lindsey A. Hancock, James L., Andrew L., and Matthew G. Mills; step-grandchildren, Dennis L. Jalbert, Peter S., and Sara S. El Hashem; great-grandchild, Max C. Paquette; cousins, Inez Segien, Charlene Townsend and Vonalyn Harris, all of Eastport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at the Searsport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Morley officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport.
