EL CERRITO, Calif. – Charles E. “Charlie” Brown, formerly of Elliottsville, died July 18, 2005, at his home in El Cerrito, Calif., at the age of 68. Charlie graduated from Monson Academy in 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad and for the Boston Naval Shipyard before moving to California in 1964. He was a machinist who spent the last years of his career building custom laboratory apparatus for graduate engineering students at the University of California, Berkeley. He is survived by his wife, Susan Forsythe of El Cerrito, Calif.; by his sisters, Beverly Roberts and Flora Anderson of Monson; brothers, Bruce of Hermon, Wayne of Milo, and Dale of Kittery Point; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Bessie Brown; and by his sister, Helen Brown McCorrison. At Charlie’s request, no services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Habitat for Humanity or to a favorite charity.
