BANGOR and HAMPDEN – Carroll Atwell Robinson Jr., 77, beloved husband of Rosemary (Lawler) Robinson, passed away unexpectedly March 11, 2006, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Dexter, the son of Carroll Atwell Robinson Sr. and Lillian (Arsenault) Robinson. Carroll was a patriotic American and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seabee in the South Pacific serving in Guam and Okinawa. He had been a resident of Hampden for 46 years, during which time he and Rosemary raised their family and he operated Robinson’s Machine Shop from 1965-2000. Carroll was a machinist by trade and worked for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad from 1956 until his retirement in 1988. He was a former member of St. Matthews Catholic Church of Hampden and was a very spiritual person. He enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving and camping. One of his proudest accomplishments was his association with AA, where he was a longtime member and mentor. During his time in AA, he established many relationships that provided him with much enjoyment over the years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who devoted his life to caring for his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary of Bangor; his children, Timothy G. Robinson Sr. of Skowhegan, Peter M. Robinson and his wife, Jaynee, of Windham, Kevin Atwell Robinson and his wife, Bonnie, of Levant and Molly Robinson Protheroe and her husband, Donald, of South Thomaston; one sister, Mary Rossi of Westbrook; and his beloved grandchildren, Timothy G. Robinson Jr. and Jennifer Turner, Kristina and Seth Robinson, Brian Atwell, Marinna and Morgan Robinson and Emily and Maria Protheroe; three great-grandchildren, Shyanne and Keely Robinson and Elizabeth Turner; and one nephew, Joseph Rossi of Windham. He was predeceased by a grandson, Anthony Atwell Robinson. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, with the Rev. Peter Jenks, pastor of St. John the Baptist Church of Thomaston, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
