WATERVILLE – Carroll J. Martell, 66, of Waterville, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, surrounded by loved ones at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born Sept. 11, 1937, in Guilford, a son of Dennis and Cora Arlene (Cookson) Martell. Carroll attended school in Skowhegan and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Jennifer Veilleux on Oct. 4, 1980. Carroll was predeceased by his parents; a sister and a brother. He was a longtime member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, bringing home numerous trophies. He was also an avid bowler, and loved watching Sunday football games, especially when his favorite team, the New York Giants, were playing. He was a huge NASCAR, Jeff Gordon fan. Carroll also enjoyed camping, and spending time with his entire family. Carroll will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those he leaves behind, his wife of 23 years; seven daughters, Jeanne and husband, Greg Willette, Joi-Lee and boyfriend, Jeff Begin, Lori and husband, Mike Eldredge, Diana and husband, Chris Spear, Stephanie Martell, all of Winslow, Angel and fianc‚, Dennis Cole, of Oakland, and Jessica and boyfriend, Brad Dickey, of Waterville; two sons, Larry and wife, Mary Martell, of Smithfield, and Brad and wife, Harmony Martell, of Minnesota; two sisters, Marilyn and husband, Richard Bilodeau, of Dexter, and Norma Jean and husband, Wayne White, of Anson; two brothers, Stuart and wife, K’Lynn Martell, of Florida, and Richard and wife, Sandy, of Washington State; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2003, at The Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Gary’s House, 97 State St., Portland, ME 04101.
