WINTERPORT – Paula J. (Warman) Johnson, 42, died peacefully Nov. 24, 2003, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 16, 1961, in Bangor, the daughter of Betty L. (Webster) and Arthur R. Warman Sr. Paula was a graduate of Searsport High School, Class of 1980, where she was active in the foreign exchange student program. She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington, with a degree in education, and studied a year abroad in Europe. She taught home economics in the Rangeley school system, and special education in the Bangor school system. She was employed by Community Health and Counseling and Care Development, was a foster parent to several children, and provided respite care to many. Paula was a very special woman who touched everyone’s life in a different way. She also was a member of the Frankfort Congregational Church, and a collector of many items. Paula is survived by one son, Brandon Johnson of Winterport; six brothers and sisters, Blaine Warman and his wife, Janice, of New Hampshire, Ray Warman and his wife, Lin, of Ohio, Sharon Seekins and her husband, Dennis, of Searsport, Stephen Warman and his wife, MaryEllen, of Brewer, Arthur Warman Jr. of Searsport, Peter Warman of Warren, and his former wife, Laurie of Stockton Springs; 11 nieces and nephews, Holly, Becky, Troy, Shelly, Mari-Jo, Michael, Amanda, Mandy, Jeremy, Jessica, and Matthew; six great-nieces and nephews, Lukas, Victoria, Bradley, Brooklynn, Madilyn, and Cory; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; many special friends, including her lifelong friend, Ellen Hoyt, her husband, Larry, and their daughter, Hillary. Paula will be sadly missed by the Johnson family. Paula was predeceased by her mother in 1991; her father in 2002; her former husband, Denny Johnson; two nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at the Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at the Frankfort Congregational Church, with Pastor Meg Watson officiating. Interment will be in the Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an educational trust fund for Paula’s young son, Brandon Johnson, care of Bangor Savings Bank, P.O. Box 409, Searsport, ME 04974. Paula’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of the staff at EMMC, Bangor, including Palliative Care, the third floor nurses, the Emergency Room Staff, and all of the wonderful people involved with the excellent care that Paula received during her lengthy illness.
