BELFAST – Catherine “Kay” Nickerson, 72, passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 2, 1935, in Belmont, the daughter of Charles and Florence Boynton. After graduation, she worked at Clark Agency for three and a half years, after getting married. Kay and Harland worked together for 42 years at Nickerson’s Exxon. She enjoyed traveling, camping, the Fryburg Fair, cruises with her husband, her children and her grandchildren. Kay would never pass up a hot dog. She loved shopping, especially the Christmas Tree Shop. Kay was a member of the Belfast Curling Club for 28 years. She was the best wife, mother and nanni in the whole world; she will be missed by many. Kay is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harland; two children, Julie Gray and her husband, Bill, of Belfast, and Vicki Nickerson and loving partner, Ed Flanders, of Belfast; three grandchildren, Malory Bowen and her fiance, Ian Fraser, Adam Flanders, and Ashley Emma Flanders; her father, Charles Boynton; and three siblings, John Boynton, Bev Dutton and Gary Boynton. She was predeceased by her mother, Florence Boynton; cousin, Pat Paiva; and aunt, Madeline Cobb. Kay had many friends and loved ones, she was cherished very much. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home. Graveside services will be announced in the spring.
