HODGDON – Cecil D. Faulkner, 71, passed away at Madigan Estates, April 28, 2005, with his loving family at his side. Cecil was born May 24, 1933, in Houlton, the son of Cecil and Annie (Hunter) Faulkner. Cecil was a veteran of the Korean War and received a medical discharge because of the debilitating eye disease Retinitus Pigmentosa that eventually led to his blindness. With the help of the Houlton Lions Club and the support of many friends and family, Cecil was able to travel to Sylmar, Calif. to train at the International Guiding Eyes School for the Blind and obtain his two precious guide dogs; Reggie, and 10 years later, his faithful companion, Yukon. For many years, “North Pole” was an avid CB’er and enjoyed talking with and meeting new friends from throughout the area and Canada. Talking to his CB friends was his favorite pastime. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Cecil leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Carol (Lussier) Faulkner; his daughter, Nancy J. Scott and her husband, Kevin, of Hodgdon; sons, Michael Faulkner and his wife, Debra, of Hodgdon, and Richard Faulkner and his fianc?e, Dena Armour, of Hodgdon. Also, his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah Scott, of Hodgdon, Erica Faulkner of Hodgdon; a grandson, Michael Philip Faulkner of Hodgdon; and step-grandchildren, Tanya Austin and Danny Estabrook, both of Arizona. Also, sisters, Phyllis Faulkner of Houlton, Bea Flemming and her husband, John, of Ludlow, and Christine Burroughs and her husband, George, of Hodgdon; and a brother, Harold Faulkner and his wife, Nona, of Colorado. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Hodgdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Maine or Guide Dogs of America of Sylmar, Calif. or to a charity of ones choice, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O.
