GOULDSBORO – Cecil Everett Gordon, 79, died Aug. 23, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Franklin, the son of Maynard C. and Nellie A. (Coombs) Gordon. Cecil graduated from Franklin High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy under the V12 Program serving in World War II in the South Pacific. He attended Bates, Dartmouth and Northwestern Colleges in the Officer Training Program. He began working for the Maine Department of Transportation and Bridge Division in 1946 retiring after 41 years as a bridge engineer in 1986. Cecil loved planting and tending his garden and he even planted it this year. He enjoyed cutting and hauling his own firewood. He built his own home and helped his son build his. Cecil was a “Jack of All Trades.” His greatest love was for his family as husband, Dad, Gramp and Dampie. He was a Scout Master and a member of the Gouldsboro Methodist Church. He enjoyed all people and making biscuits for the church suppers. Cecil is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha (Gregory) Gordon; two sons, James Gordon and wife, Christine, of Gloucester, Va. and Gregory Gordon and wife, Barbara, of North Sullivan; two daughters, Marce Lee Marcoux and husband, Frank, of Cape Elizabeth and Mary Lou Lane and husband, Steven, of Franklin; four grandchildren, Michael Marcoux, Miranda and Megan Lane and Carrie Anne Gordon; and several cousins. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Gouldsboro Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Kimmelman presiding.
