MILLINOCKET – Cecile Lillian LaPlante, 91, passed away Monday, March 15, 2004, at a local hospital. The 17th of 18 children, she was born Sept. 23, 1912, in Wallagrass, the daughter of Florient and Marie (Labbe) St. Germaine. Cecile was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church since 1930. She was a domestic worker for many years, but her main job was being a mother and a grandmother. She enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards, sewing, doing puzzles, and reading her Bible. Cecile was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Lionel LaPlante, in 1990. She is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Aldea LaPlante, of Millinocket, David and his wife, Trudi LaPlante, of East Millinocket; one daughter, Linda and her husband, Eugene Douglass, of Millinocket; two sisters, Yvonne Cann of Rockford, Mich., Annette Watson and her husband, George, of Cerrilles, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by a special brother-in-law; and four sisters-in-laws. She was also predeceased by her son, Paul LaPlante; and a great-granddaughter, Kacy Bulley. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Spring Burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
