OAKFIELD – Norma “Peg” Crandall, 81, died March 16, 2004, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Ludlow, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (White) Shields. Peg devoted her entire adult life to making a home for and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. She took great pride in all of her family and their accomplishments. She will be greatly missed by all who ever had the privilege of having known her. She is survived by seven children, Richard and his wife, Loraine Crandall, of Merrill, and their children, Susan, Katie and Andrew; Ross and his wife, Sally Crandall, of Smyrna, and their children, Joshua and Josiah; Rebecca and her husband, Steve Graham, of Houlton, and their children, Danny and Amanda; Cindy Brawn of St. Albans, and her children, Jaime, Jennifer, Michelle and Brent; Norma Crandall and her son, Chris, of Island Falls, and her friend, Billy Pipes; Clair and his wife, Karen Crandall, of Scarborough, and their children, Matthew and Drew; and Sarah and her husband, Brian Suitter, of Houlton, and their children, Ben and Cole; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Shields of Oakfield, and Leighton and his wife, Bette Shields, of West Sebois; one sister, Cora and her husband, Beverly Clark of Oakfield; special brother-in-law, Paul Sherman of Oakfield; special niece, Mary Grant of Island Falls; and special cousins, Betty Haaland and Evelyn Blake; several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, William; and one son, William Jr. Graveside services will be announced in the spring at the Oakfield Cemetery.
