PROSPECT HARBOR and ELLSWORTH – Cecilia Barbara McQuaide, 97, died March 20, 2008, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born June 23, 1910, in Medea, Pa., the daughter of George P. and Elizabeth (Uhl) Horn. While accompanying her husband overseas during his shipbuilding days in Germany, Italy and Japan, she developed the fine art of “Ikebana,” Japanese flower arranging. She successfully continued with her own classes when she returned to live in Cundys Harbor. She was a past member of the Ikebana Society, Portland. She is survived by a son, James P. McQuaide III and wife, Phyllis, of Edgecomb; and daughter, Cecilia M. Strohmeyer and husband, George R., of Prospect Harbor. A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place early spring/summer in Pennsylvania.
