PITTSFIELD – Charles Bowley Sr., 85, passed away Jan. 23, 2006, at the Veteran’s Home, Augusta. Charles was born April 19, 1920, in Portland, the son of Charles and Mary Bowley of Portland. Charles Bowley was a World War II veteran. He was a mason and general contractor in the United States and Canada. He also worked on the waterfront in Portland and worked with forest products. His hobbies were playing cards, horse racing, gardening, swimming, camping and sponsored car racing. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all. Charles had three siblings, Huey, Richard and Mary, all deceased. Charles is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joan Bowley. He has two sons, Charles III and wife, Heather Bowley and Carleton Bowley and friend, Leeann. Charles has six stepchildren, Betty Elkins and friend, Glen Whitaker, Angela Salley and friend, Chuck Dunton, Catherine and husband, David Ramee, Terry McGowan and wife, Janet, Mike McGowan, Kathy and husband, Roland Frost, as well as many grandchildren. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. March 18, at Calvary Baptist Church, Grove Hill, Pittsfield.
