BROOKLIN – Charles Manley Tyler, 78, died Oct. 8, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 28, 1925, in Blue Hill, the son of Roy S. and Delia F. (Leach) Tyler. Charles was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He wintered in Davis, Fla., and summered in Brooklin. He loved to fish, cook and entertain. He was a well-known artist for many years. He painted many championship race horses and shared his paintings with his family. He enjoyed the Brooklin Alumnus events. He is survived by two brothers, Avery Tyler of Ashland, N.C. and Harry Tyler and wife, Joyce, of Blue Hill; five sisters, Rebecca Gargano of North Kingston, R.I., Elizabeth Ruttencutter of Woburn, Ore., Joan Cole of Harvard, Mass., Sally Packard of New Gloucester and Cindy Bibler of Brooklin; many nieces nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd, and a sister, Virginia Carter. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Brooklin Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Hutchins officiating.
