PALM DESERT, Calif. – Charles Ralph Davis, 86, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Old Town, the son of the late Ralph Miller Davis and Mary Alma Cyr. Charles “Charlie” Ralph Davis was born and raised in Old Town, graduating from Old Town High in 1935. He attended Georgia Military Academy, College Park, Georgia (Sept 1937 – June 1938). In June 1938, he was accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He continued his education at University of Maine, Orono, (September 1939 – June 1942), graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. He began his career at Wright Aeronautical Corporation (1942 – 1949) as a senior test engineer, located in Patterson, N.J. In 1949, he transferred to Robinson Aviation located in Teterboro, N.J. (August 1949 – September 1965), and through many promotions, he eventually assumed the role as vice president of the Western Division, located in Santa Monica, Calif. In October 1965 he started his own business, R-D Mounts, Inc. which was a lifelong passion. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Miller Davis and Mary Alma Cyr, his first wife, Frances E. Fayle (who died Dec. 17, 1963); and his sister, Marguerite Davis Estabrook. He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Floriene (Duke) Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Corrine Sturgeon of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; daughters, Margaret Jody (Mark) Reed of Palm Desert, Calif., Jana Frances Plummer of Valencia, Calif. and Mimi Mary (Todd) Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by stepchildren, Jeffrey Schusterick of West Los Angeles, Dudley Schusterick of Reno, Nev., Craig Schusterick of Long Beach, Calif., Cristi (A.D) Barry of Maryland, many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family is planning a funeral and celebration of his life Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Old Town. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Lawndale Cemetery. The graveside service will be presided by Fr. Richards, Holy Town Parish. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the service at Pat’s Pizza, Orono.
