BLUE HILL and BASS HARBOR – Charlotte F. Robbins, 96, passed away Aug. 31, 2006, with her two children at her side, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born April 8, 1910, in Tremont, the eldest child of Hollis G. Reed and Lillian (Rich) Reed. She attended Bass Harbor and Tremont elementary schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, in 1929. She then attended teacher colleges in Castine and Machias. For 38 years, she was the postmaster in Bass Harbor, formerly McKinley. As a member of Olsen Memorial Church, she served as a teacher and superintendent of Sunday school. She also served that church as its treasurer for more than 20 years. Charlotte had been president of the Millay Study Club, worthy matron of Tremont Chapter No. 164 Order of the Eastern Star and she was the last president of the Bass Harbor Garden Club. She is survived by her son, George G. Robbins of Blue Hill; her daughter, Patricia A. True and her husband, Dale, of Brooksville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, Natalie Mosher of Temple, Clayton Reed, Richard Reed, both of Bass Harbor and Emma Richards of Bar Harbor. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday.
