FORT MYERS, Fla. and BANGOR – George Warren Baker, 83, died March 12, 2006, after a short illness in Fort Myers, Fla. George was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Brewer, the son of George Bradford and Bertha (Fillmore) Baker. George was married to Marjorie Hazel (Bennett) Baker for nearly 59 years. Due to George’s decreased mobility, they moved to Cape Coral, Fla. in 1999, to be near their daughter, Georgette Hibbs. After Marjorie’s death in 2001, George moved to Calusa Harbour senior living in Fort Myers. George was a good father, husband and a fine tradesman. After much study and apprenticeship, George received his State of Maine Master Plumber’s License in 1956. He established his own business and for 40 years was a well-known member of the trade’s community in the Bangor area. George was a member of Rising Virtue No. 10 Masonic Lodge, a member of the Royal Arch Masons and St. John’s Commandry, and a Past Patron of Tuscan Chapter No. 148 Order of the Eastern Star. George and Marjorie were members of the First Baptist Church in Bangor. George is survived by one sister, Eleanor Miller of Fort Myers, Fla.; three daughters, Georgette Ann (Baker) Hibbs, Susan Carol Baker, Brenda Jean (Baker) Bondurant and their spouses; four grandchildren, Brett Norton, Molly Bondurant, Jay Bondurant and Sarah Bachrach; and three great-grandchildren, Nikita Norton, Alexia Norton and Sierra Longto; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brothers, Lloyd, Robert; sisters, Daisy and Marjorie predeceased him. George and Marjorie’s cremated remains will be interred at a later date in Bangor at Mount Hope Cemetery.
