BELFAST – Charlotte G. Staples died peacefully Dec. 21, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Searsport, the daughter of Fred H. and Evelyn (Knowlton) Curtis. Lottie graduated from Searsport High School, Class of 1932. She married Norman Staples May 9, 1942, and they spent 61 wonderful years together. She worked for shoe factories in Belfast for many years. Lottie enjoyed going to yard sales, as well as having her own. Charlotte is survived by nieces, Beth Flanders of Searsport, Linda Wancus of Prospect, Gail Curtis of Searsport and Mary Gilman of Belfast; nephews, Darrold Dorr of Bar Harbor and Michael Staples of Winterport; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Staples of Belfast; and Charlotte’s friend, Ken Fitzjurls of Belfast. She was predeceased by Norman, May 2003; and a nephew, Gary Curtis, December 2005. Graveside services will be held in the spring. Those who wish may make donations in Charlotte’s memory to TownLine Animal Shelter, 46 Baker Road, Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
