MARS HILL – Charlotte M. York “Little Mother”, 68, died Dec. 6, 2004, with her loving and supportive family around her. She lost her battle with cancer that she fought with courage and strength never giving up. She was born Aug. 9, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Broad) Mahan. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to the needs of everyone else. She leaves her dedicated loving husband and best friend of 45 years Ernest W. York of Mars Hill; a daughter, Lori and special son-in-law, Maurice McCrum of Mars Hill; two special grandsons, Dirk McCrum and fianc?e Tara Pierce, Dustin McCrum both of Mars Hill; two stepsons, Dave and Dana York of Milford, N.H.; four brothers and their wives, Frank “Sam” and Dawn Mahan of Mars Hill, Richard and Dorcas, Bob and Betty Mahan, all of Blaine, Wallace and Joanne Mahan of Mars Hill; a sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and William “Bill” Robinson of Caribou; a brother-in-law, and his wife Fay and Paula York of Mapleton; several special nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by a very dear friend, Patty Bell. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul; and stepson, Danny. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Interment will be in Kings Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Charlotte M.
