OLD TOWN – Delmar A. Brown, 78, passed away early Tuesday morn-ing Dec. 7, 2004, at an Orono nursing facility. He was born May 21, 1926, in Bradley, the son of the late Arthur and Sadie (Hall) Brown.Delmar proudly served his country in World War II for the U.S. Army. After returning from the war, he graduated from Old Town High School were he met his wife, Margaret. Delmar went on to work for Penobscot Chemical and Fiber, now known as Georgia Pacific and also for Maxim Feed. His working career continued with the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal Carrier and retired following 20 years of dedication. Delmar also worked for Cyr Bus Lines in Old Town as a part-time employee. He enjoyed fishing and he had a special love for animals. Delmar was a member of the Old Town United Baptist Church and the Old Town VFW Post 3381. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years Margaret; daughter, Ethel Jenkins and her husband, Tom, of Bradley; special nephew, Arthur Brown of Morgan Hill, Calif.; special nieces, Lynn Knight of Old Town and Jan Osgood of Milford, Mass.; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends “the Littlefield family” of Old Town. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ruel Brown. The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of Orono Commons Nursing Home for their unconditional care that was provided for Delmar and for their generous hospitality towards Margaret and the family. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where the Old Town VFW will conduct a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev.
