ORRINGTON – Cheryl Marie Young, 57, died Aug. 23, 2005, at her residence. She was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Silver Springs, Md., the daughter of Arthur and Allean (Davis) Wentzel. Cheryl was a member of the East Orrington Congregational Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, director of vacation Bible School and a financial secretary. She was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, square dancer, and she sewed Little Miss Maine Dresses and Halloween costumes. Cheryl was always there to lend a helping hand. She is survived by her husband, Brian Young whom she married in June of 1968; three children, Daniel Young and his wife, Tanya, of Bangor, Rebecca “Becky” Young of California, and Jennifer “Sassy” Young of Orrington; mother-in-law, Joan Young; brothers, Bobby Wentzel and his family, and Larry Wentzel; cousin, Eddie Davis and family; brother-in-law, Derald Young and family, Aunt Sonya and Uncle Roger and family. She will be fondly remembered by many members and friends of East Orrington Congregational Church and special friends Debbie, Tom, Allison, and Aaron Aucoin. The family would like to thank Linda Colford for all her help and support. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug 25, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday Aug. 26, at the East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Rd., with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor, officiating.
